2021 Seed Haul

earthdaughterstudi

Ya'll. I GOT SO MANY SEEDS. I know I know, I have a seed buying problem, but it's okay! It's my new normal at this point. Like last year, I purchased seeds from a variety of places based on price and what each seed company offered. I like to stick with heirloom varieties, which 99% of all my seeds are. Without further ado, lets dip into my 2021 seed haul!

First up is Burpee. I feel like we all know Burpee. We've seen their seeds in grocery stores and gardening centers across America for generations. They are one of the OG seed companies and this year I got a lot of tried and true regulars from them. I am most looking forward to the Big Mama Lima Bean (mostly because of the name ha!), Polish Linguisa Tomato (sauce variety), and the Early Jersey Wakefield Cabbage because this lady right her loves her some cabbage.

High Mowing Organic is a new company I came across earlier this year and they have a really great selection! I am most excited about the Rosa Bianca Eggplant, a sweet delicate type, and the Esmee Arugula, which is said to be a very nutty variety of arugula

Carmel Bella Farm is a super neat woman owned primarily heirloom tomato farm in the Pacific Northwest. This Antho-variety mix is a mixture of different anthocyanin rich tomatoes, so they have deep contrasting coloring as a result. These will be beautiful and delicious! I recommend signing up for their email list as their seeds go out of stock FAST and email subscribers get notified first.

Peaceful Heritage Nursey is an amazing KY nursery that is family owned and operated. I've been receiving their emails for quite some time now and really admire the quality of their products and the dedication to their growing values. My partner and I LOVE figs and are so excited to start our own little fig orchard. I also bought a bunch of blackberries, both June and August bearing to start our berry patch. The best time to plant your fruit trees and berries is now, don’t wait! Lastly, the only actual seeds from this order, the South Anna Butternut Squash. How could I say no to a butternut squash variety specifically meant for growing in the south? #squashqueenrepresent

Baker Creek is one of the largest heirloom seed companies in the world and they have so so many unique and rare varieties. The Rogosa Violina Butternut Squash and the Orangeglo Watermelon are my top picks from this purchase! Also if you haven't seen their Whole Seed Catalog, you need to. It is a life changing. And they give you free seeds with your orders!!

Urban Farmer

Urban Farmer is very new to me. I came across them while trying to find more Bennings Green Tint Squash seeds as all my usual places were sold out by the time I started ordering for the year. I got two packs of Bennings so I could share with some family and friends and then got some other random seeds that were on sale because why not? Obviously my fav out of this order is the Bennings Green Tint.

I'll be sharing how these varieties grow on here as well as on my instagram, @earth.daughter.emily, so stay tuned as we get further into the growing season. What are some varieties that you are most looking forward to growing this year?
